Hands-On Project Unit for Late Primary

What if your child could become the engineer, Imagineer and ride designer?

In this highly engaging hands-on project unit, students step into the world of theme park design as they dream, design, build, test and improve their own amusement-park creations.

Across 5 creative projects, students will:

  • design their own amusement ride, including movement, riders, safety features and theme

  • experiment with rolling, spinning, swinging and dropping to explore motion

  • design and construct a working mini Ferris wheel

  • create a theme park map and queue system, considering safety and visitor experience

  • build, test and improve a marble roller coaster, recording results and solving problems along the way.

Rather than simply completing worksheets, children are encouraged to think like real designers and engineers—planning ideas, making models, testing what works, identifying problems and changing their designs.

Writing and reflection are naturally woven throughout the projects, making this a fun cross-curricular unit combining STEM, science, engineering, design, creativity and English.

Designed for late primary learners and perfect for homeschool families looking for meaningful, low-prep learning that feels more like a project than schoolwork.

Dream it. Design it. Build it.
