The ‘LEGO Design and Build’ is a hands-on unit designed to help young learners explore science, design, engineering, creativity, and problem-solving through purposeful LEGO challenges. Rather than simple free play, children are guided through structured builds that encourage planning, testing, improving, measuring, storytelling, and real-world thinking. Throughout the unit, students create a personalised LEGO Design Portfolio filled with labelled drawings, build photographs, simple reflections, and showcase projects that demonstrate their learning and creativity.
Each challenge connects naturally to Australian Curriculum v9 learning areas including Science, Design and Technologies, English, and Mathematics, while remaining engaging, flexible, and easy for families to implement at home. Children explore animal habitats, bridges, vehicles, towers, farms, communities, patterns, storytelling scenes, and more while developing confidence in communication, design thinking, and hands-on construction skills.
