This Grade 6 HASS – Australia and the World Curriculum is a complete, Australian Curriculum v9 aligned program that brings together History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, and Economics & Business in a practical and engaging way. It is designed especially for homeschool families, with clear, open-and-go lessons that combine reading, discussion and independent activities.
Across 21 lessons, students explore Australia before and after Federation, migration, Australia’s connections with Asia, geography and trade, democracy and government, and real-life economics and consumer choices. Lessons use a varied mix of adventure-style reading pages, information pages, worksheets, mapping activities, documentary studies and hands-on projects, rather than relying on worksheets alone.
Students also develop important HASS inquiry skills by working with maps, timelines, graphs, historical sources and different viewpoints, before bringing their learning together through a final inquiry project. The curriculum includes supporting appendices, inquiry tools, assessment resources and answer keys, making it straightforward for parents to teach while giving students plenty of opportunities to investigate, create and think for themselves.
